I have lots of collard stories. This one goes back to an earlier column this year about community gardens started at three Suffolk locations and how successful those gardens have been. The garden idea started with a wish from the Suffolk Partnership for a Healthy Community, sponsored by Sentara Obici Hospital. The board wanted to reach into the area and make certain those experiencing a hard time financially - especially senior citizens - were able to get fresh fruits and vegetables this year.
